GUARDIANSHIP PROGRAM

At The Labrador Lodge, our Guardianship Program allows our dogs to live in their forever homes right away while participating in our breeding program. It is a wonderful option if you are looking to welcome a dog into your home without the initial purchase cost.

We currently have puppies available for guardianship from upcoming litters, as well as two of our adult dogs, Daisy and Raven.

Here is an overview of how the program works:

Responsibilities & Costs: The Guardian family covers regular routine care (vet checks, vaccinations, monthly Heartgard, and quarterly Bravecto). The Labrador Lodge covers all breeding-related costs, as well as the spay/neuter procedure once the dog completes their breeding career.

Testing: Once the female puppy reaches 18 months of age, she will have a health evaluation with our reproductive veterinarian in Lomira to ensure she is a suitable candidate for breeding.

Breeding Process: If approved, she will visit our facility briefly for breeding.

Pregnancy & Delivery: Five weeks after breeding, she will have a 1-hour vet visit to confirm the pregnancy, after which she returns home to you. About five days before her due date, she will have an X-ray appointment to check the litter size. She will then stay at our facility to deliver and care for her puppies until they are weaned (around 4 weeks), at which point she returns home to you.

Duration: This breeding cycle is repeated 4 times.
